Description | In this century, Japanese agricultural cooperatives have been in difficult situation in the respect of marketing of vegetables due to decline and the change in demand; increases for processing sector and the use of import products, to growing the power of large-scale retailers and food processors. But COVID-19 Pandemic have been changing the market since 2020. In this paper, we examine achievements and possibility of carrot marketing in main production area of Tokushima Prefecture under COVID-19 Pandemic; case study in JA-Itanogun. We find that, first, JA-Itanogun have getting better selling than before in total. Second, on the other hand, changes in demand issues these results, not caused by efforts and requirement from JA-Itanogun. Sales in 2022 show this; decline of transaction price. Results indicate that to improve the selling of carrots and to keep on farming, it should be considered that efforts are necessary to raise the price-level from current low-level led by large-scale retailers to the appropriate level for farmer.
