Description
The study of language change by immigration in Japan has not been so far dealt with very much except a case of immigration in Hokkaido. We argue a case moved from Kagawa prefecture to Tottori prefecture as a group almost over fifty years ago. We interviewed immigrants who live at Katori district in Daisencho of Tottori about dialect, sound, accent, aspect as grammatical elements and annual events of Katori to know which dialect (Kagawa dialect or Tottori dialect) tends to be used by each informant. This paper describes how immigration contributes to language change, especially, we suggest that difference of language use tends to depend mainly on different generation of immigrants through the survey with regard to the choice of dialect.
