Disabled sports and recreations are profitable for wheelchair users in order to adapt to themselves their lives of the disabled people and to take a chance of the body exercise. This study examined the effects of life-long sport theory to define the word "disabled sports/disabilites sports". The word “disabled sports" cannot easily be defined without reference to two concepts: (a) sports as a tool in rehabilitation; and (b) sports and leisure in life. Ten wheelchair users were investigated by writing their life histories of sports using these concepts.Differnces in the life histories between wheelchair users with congenital (n=3) and acquired (n=7) disabilities were examined. The results can be summarized as follows:
1) The rehabilitation, the welfare,the physical education and the community sports for disabilities have formed it own culture of the body exercise respectively. However,“ disabled sport" can be defined by the factor of“humanity' which are common to rehabilitation and sports. It is important to understand the words "life-long" and "for all" in the life-long sport theory to define the concept of disabled sports.
2)To participate the disabled sports in life history,it is important to consider the following four factors: Recognizing of their physical abilities: Experience in appreciating the sport essence: Having the important pereon in participating sports: Having access to the sport space.
3) It is difficult and limited to explain the sports played by the heavy disabilities by the concept of life-long sport theory.
