Description
The 2010 Guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were published in October 2010. There have been several important advances in resuscitation science and recommendations of treatments. The 2010 Guidelines recommend a change in the basic life support sequence of steps from A-B-C (Airway, Breathing, Chest compressions) to C-A-B (Chest compressions, Airway, Breathing). The guidelines also emphasize the need for high-quality CPR. Now rescuers in public can use the AED (automated external defibrillator) and provide CPR to the adults and children in cardiac arrest. The key issues and major changes of the guidelines are summarized to contribute to understand the important developments in CPR.
