Description
Saturday emergency service at the hospital was discontinued in April, 2008. It became evident that the community medical service program was facing a serious situation due to the shortage of physicians at a strategy meeting held at the hospital. Local residents realized that to help improve medical services in Kaifu Hospital and to build a network connecting the various service providers would be needed, and then formed the Group for the Protection of Community Medical Services. Their main activities are as follows :
1)Presents like pillows have been donated based on the revenue from the bazaar to express the gratitude to physicians.
2)They gathered 12,457 signatures which were used as a petition to increase the number of limited express trains on JR Mugi Line.
3)They have periodically cleaned grounds of hospitals and physicians’housings.
4)They have showed a short play to residents to reduce a convenience check-up to Kaifu hospital.
5)They have attended presentations of medical practices by Tokushima University medical students and have listened the presentation and discussed with them.
