Description
In elderly patients, a lot of nutritional problems exist such as dysphagia and anorexia.They cause malnutrition. It decreases their immune functions and shortens the life prognosis.It is necessary to construct the hospital food service system by which enables appropriatedietary management based on the nutritional assessment of the individual to cope withthis problem.On the other hand, the examinations of proper range of the energy and nutrient intakein elderly patients are requested. Especially, it is necessary to research the recommendeddietary allowance of protein including the tolerable upper intake level.In addition, it is hoped to improve amenity concerning meal, including the adjustment oftheir forms, to keep an enough food intake for the recovery from malnutrition. And eatingtraining and dietary counseling is necessary by nurse and dietitian, respectively.
