Description | In 1910s, the Governor-General of Taiwan had carried out an immigration plan to reclaim a wasteland of East Taiwan, promoting Japanese farmers who lived in the west Japan to settle in. At the beginning of this plan, a number of farmers had migrated from Tokushima to Hualien, so one of immigration villages was named Yoshino village. This paper aims to survey the background that Tokushima prefecture had sent out immigrants to Taiwan Yoshino village, comparing with immigration to Hokkaido and Korea.
